Season 1, Episode 9

The Magical, Pelagical Birding World of a Tasmanian Twitcher with Peter Vaughan

Peter Vaughan has been an ‘ornithological enthusiast’ from a young age and is a self-declared ‘bird nerd’ and ‘Pelagic Tragic’. He has spent much of his time travelling around Australia, including his home state of Tasmania, searching for rare and cryptic birds. In particular, these travels have taken him out to the continental shelf off Eaglehawk Neck numerous times, leading to a fascination with seabirds.

Peter recently received the Tasmania University Medal for his honours research into Gadfly Petrels, and has turned his fascination with these seabirds into a scientific and conservation calling. Peter also conducts tours around Tasmania and in other parts of Australia for Inala Tours.
