The National Insect Expo
Well, where do I start?
Gavin McGrath (ABC Ballarat) rang me to discuss this year’s Insect of the Year event (details below), and asked me if I’d be able to attend the National Insect Expo in Woodend, Victoria (around 800 kms away). I had never heard of it, but said I would definitely try. I checked out the expo website, and booked an exhibitor spot.
My daughter (Meg) came with me, and we had a wonderful road trip: lots of chats, great music, beautiful food (and coffee), and lots of rain.
The expo was incredible. They had doubled the online ticket sales from the previous year, and the 52 exhibitors had a huge range of insect (and arachnid) paraphernalia on display. Apparently Spiderman also put in an appearance, but I was too busy chatting to see him.
Gav and his ABC Radio team were also there, and we had a very quick chat on the live radio broadcast, and a more relaxed one afterwards (image below).
